Thanks for the link Ron.

I agree with your observation. The reporter( from KCRA ) kept asking me questions regarding how bad things are...to the point of telling me that these gardens are usually built as a response to blight. I responded that we built it because of our efforts to make the neighborhood friendlier...more welcoming.  Instead they quoted the one negative thing I said regarding home values going down.

She wanted that to offset the nice aspect of the show, which was the kids getting involved with the planting, and hope for the future. So I'll accept that. The garden is a good thing for our neighborhood to have...hopefully we'll have more interest and can expand next season.

An Open Letter! PDF Print E-mail

Please do not hesitate to forward this letter on.

I am excited as ever to be a part of this community and want to contribute/share my talents with my neighbors. Currently my work hours do not allow me to easily attend the Association's meeting, however, I can easily be reached by email(preferred) , phone(emergencies/time sensitive), and in person (late evenings and weekends) if needed.

I took some time since the BBQ, June 12, to update our website with the most current version of the Joomla, the software that makes it all run. I am quite happy to try to meet, email, or phone any person or group interested in learning this system. My hope is that we can start utilizing the website and software to its full potential.

image094Here is a link (or KCRA's clip, Webmaster) to the news clip on our community garden. While I am appreciative of them airing a positive story, I'm disappointed that it didn't come out more positive. All they showed me talking about was crime, struggles and frustration, instead of working together forming successful partnerships, providing fresh healthy foods for neighbors, and strengths of being a diverse community.

Website updates.... PDF Print E-mail

I wanted announce a few updates to our website. Some updates will not be noticed and others will.

Links on our site will be much clearer. Before the links were machine generated, they were component id's, and now they are based on the title of the page they refer to. This will help rank our site higher in Google and most other search engnies.

I also recently installed a sitemap. This a visual map of our site that should help Google and site users navigate our site. It is currently not displaying as I would like, otherwise it is fully functional.
