Hello neighbors,
I have received more information regarding the families impacted by the fire on Meadowview and Amherst at the Whispering Pine Apartment complex.
The Red Cross is expecting to spend approximately $45,000 on assistance for the more than sixty residents who have been displaced by the fire last Thursday morning. The money is being spent on clothing, household goods, food and rent. Also, medications need to be replenished as one boy with diabetes lost all of his supplies for his condition and his mother lost her prescription eyeglasses in the destruction.

Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Newsletter
Volume 1, Issue 1
April 4, 2009
Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Association Newsletter informs residents and owners of the 900 homes between 21st St and Amherst, Florin Road and 68th Ave. about how we neighbors are working together with city services to solve community problems and improve the quality of our neighborhood. We e-mail it to members and hand-deliver or snail-mail to the members who do not have computers. Please pass this copy on or recycle it.
We invite speakers to address your problems and concerns and explain what the City needs or plans to do in various areas. In the past, they have helped us plant trees around Cabrillo Park, and stopped the spread of liquor stores and gasoline stations here. When the 311 Telephone program was implemented, the woman who runs it, came out and explained to us how it worked. The Neighborhood Association is your voice with the City. It is is also your source of news about things that impact you where you live.

Today marks the official beginning of Sacramento City 311!What used to be known as Sacramento City Operator is now a thing of the past. We've expanded our services, simplified our phone number and taken on a new name. We're now Sacramento City 311. Within the city limits, you can reach us simply by dialing 311. Sacramento City 311 Agents are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, evenon holidays to assist with customer questions, intake and process requests for City services and are responsible for all after hour/weekend municipal emergencies aside from Police and Fire issues. All you have to do is dial 311 (callers outside the city limits may still access our service by dialing 264-5011). |

I talked with the manager at Longs Drugs about shopping carts. He wants to be a good neighbor and keep them out of our neighborhood. It will only cost him $2 each to retrieve them a good deal for him considering they cost $90 new. The best way to contact him is by email at

with shopping carts in the subject line and the address of where you have seen one. Hopefully this will be a more effective way to work with them in solving this problem in our neighborhood. You can also call him at 392-1004 but I believe email will be the most productive use of his and our time. |
