Hearings set on Railyards plans

Sacramento Business Journal - 1:12 PM PDT Friday, September 7, 2007

The general public will have three opportunities to testify about a developer's massive plans for the downtown railyard before the plan goes before the Sacramento City Council in November, the city announced Friday.
The joint public hearings before the city's planning, preservation and  design commissions are planned for Sept. 11, Oct. 2 and Oct. 22, all at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 1230 J Street. Thomas Enterprises Inc. is redeveloping the 244-acre brownfield site under the Railyards Specific Plan, an estimated $4.5 billion venture that calls for 10,000 to 12,000 new homes, 1.3 million square feet of offices, a large marketplace and reuse of several old railroad structures.

Written public comments on the Railyards project's draft environmental
impact report are due by Oct. 3. A public hearing on that report will be held
Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Historic City Hall, 915 I Street.
