Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Newsletter
Volume 1, Issue 1
April 4, 2009
Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Association Newsletter informs residents and owners of the 900 homes between 21st St and Amherst, Florin Road and 68th Ave. about how we neighbors are working together with city services to solve community problems and improve the quality of our neighborhood. We e-mail it to members and hand-deliver or snail-mail to the members who do not have computers. Please pass this copy on or recycle it.
We invite speakers to address your problems and concerns and explain what the City needs or plans to do in various areas. In the past, they have helped us plant trees around Cabrillo Park, and stopped the spread of liquor stores and gasoline stations here. When the 311 Telephone program was implemented, the woman who runs it, came out and explained to us how it worked. The Neighborhood Association is your voice with the City. It is is also your source of news about things that impact you where you live.
At our last meeting David, Ron, Don, Donna, and Elsie shared ideas from the City's Neighborhood Summit—a full day of meeting other leaders and learning what the City offers its citizens.
Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Association: Meeting Thursday, April 9th at the Living Stones Church, Amherst and Florin, 6:30, Bill Maynard from the Sacramento Community Garden Coalition will speak on crop swap, composting, and community gardens.
Why we meet at Living Stones Church rather than John Bidwell School: It is a much more comfortable place for people who can't sit on low backless benches for very long. The acoustics are much better, and Pastor Vander Klay is a member of Golf View Neighborhood Association, so he has lots of experience with success on the north side of Florin Road. Thank you Pastor Vander Kley for letting us use your "clean, well-lighted place".
