Greetings,
Once again this year the City of Sacramento Volunteer Program will help to host the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) efforts.
Individuals who wish to do their own taxes without assistance may utilize the special portal for the City of Sacramento. This site allows taxpayers to complete federal and up to 2 state returns for free, electronically file and have their refund directly deposited in their account. This service is provided through the City of Sacramento Volunteer Program in partnership with the Beehive and One Economy. To access the portal, please visit:
www.beehivesacramento.org/cityofsacramento.
Income is limited to a maximum of $54,000 for 2007 in order to file for free.
Those with incomes of $40,000 or less for 2007, qualify for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). VITA volunteers will help prepare federal and state taxes. This program is a collaboration of the City of Sacramento and the IRS. It is possible to also qualify for additional credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Care Credit and more, which could increase the refund amount. Assisted Self-Preparation is available at 2 sites this year for those with incomes up to $50,000. Those sites are the Pannell/Meadowview Community Center and the South Natomas Community Center.
