Park Volunteers

Roger Brown, from City Parks, C 916-712-1356 O 916-808-6253, discussed current conditions at Cabrillo Park and possible volunteer efforts available to our association. Due to recent equipment difficulties the city is having problems keeping the grass mowed. This and budget cuts have lead to the local soccer league paying to have the field mowed. Roger stated that all recently planted trees are receiving extra water. His ideas for volunteers would be to help pull weeds, trim shrubbery near pool and tennis courts, stake and tie up trees, and spread wood chips around jungle gym and trees. Minor litter pick-up is always needed, however, he considers our park fairly clean. Roger advised all interested parties to sign up with the City volunteer corp as they can help provide equipment and materials.
